Mines and Minerals Act to be re-tabled in Balochistan PA

QUETTA: The central spokesperson for the National Party (NP), in a statement issued on Thursday, said that the Mines. Minerals Act would be re-tabled in the Balochistan Assembly.

The government has formally sought proposals from opposition parties regarding the bill,. the National Party, in collaboration with other opposition parties, has prepared joint recommendations and submitted them to the government.

The spokesperson said the National Party is a fully political. democratic party and considers dialogue a fundamental part of the democratic process. He added that the party had previously filed a petition in court against the earlier version of the bill. However, following the government’s decision to revisit the legislation. invite proposals from the opposition, the party has engaged in the process.

The statement further said that the party has conditionally withdrawn its court petition. However, if the government fails to implement the opposition’s recommendations. does not ensure the protection of the interests of the people of Balochistan, the party reserves the right to approach the court again.

It also stated that any amendments or changes to the bill would automatically render the previous version legally irrelevant; therefore. it is the government’s responsibility to incorporate the opposition’s recommendations into the legislation.
