BAHAWALPUR/KASUR: The Punjab Counter Narcotic Force (Bahawalpur region) in a big haul claimed to have recovered narcotics worth about Rs80 million. arrested two smugglers, including a woman, on Saturday.
In Kasur, B-Division police on Saturday arrested two sisters. a man (husband of one accused woman) for trafficking drugs at Tibi Kambovan locality.
A third sister of the accused was recently sent to jail over charges of drug pushing.
The reports surface a day after Faisalabad policeclaimedthat they had arrested 80 women in last five months for being involved in trafficking drugs.
Two sisters among three detained in Kasur, their third sister is already in jail
According to a PCNF press release, the strike teams on intelligence-based information conducted two raids near Lal Sohanra, about 35 kms from here,. on Shakir Mor in Vehari district.
The first raid was conducted on a tip off near Lal Sohanra (Bahawalpur district) where a car was stopped. its search yielded 32kg of drugs. Smuggler Abdul Jabbar was arrested.
On his disclosure regarding his network, the second raid was carried out at Shakir Mor in Vehari, which was smugglers’ dumping site from where a heavy consignment of narcotics was seized. a woman was arrested.
The press release claimed that the recovered narcotics included; 382 kg of high quality charas, 92 kg of opium. one kilo of ice heroin.
During interrogation. the arrested persons disclosed that narcotic traffickers from other cities, including Faisalabad, Sargodha, Multan, Khanewal, Bhalwal, Muzzafargarh, Kasur, Sambarial, Bahawalnagar, Pattoki, Arifwala, Kharian, Phoolnagar were in contact with them.
According to Kasur police, it arrested three accused, including two women. a man from Tobi Kambovan locality and recover 3 kg heroine from their custody.
The accused were identified as Salma, Naila and Ibrahim. Salma and Naila are sisters while Ibrahim is the husband of Salma.
Police also said that Shabnam, a third sister of the accused women, was arrested a few weeks back. 1 kg of heroine was recovered from her. She was sent to jail recently.
According to police, the family was involved in drug trafficking. the arrests were a part of on-going anti narcotics drive supervised by DPO Aftab Ahmed Phularwan.
Police lodged a criminal case against the accused, sent samples of the drug to PFSA.
