Says maximum temperature in Karachi may reach 38°C
The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) on Tuesday issued a heatwave alert. warning that moderate to severe heatwave conditions were likely to persist across most districts of Sindh until June 12.
It added that in Karachi, hot and humid weather was expected over the next three days. Sea breezes, along with westerly winds, were likely to prevail in the city.
The Met department said the maximum temperature in Karachi may reach 38°C today, rising to 40°C on Wednesday. up to 42°C on Thursday.
"In several districts, including Sukkur, Shikarpur, Qambar Shahdadkot, Jacobabad, Larkana, Mohenjo Daro, Dadu, Shaheed Benazirabad, Ghotki, Khairpur. Naushahro Feroze, temperatures are expected to rise between 48°C and 51°C until 12 June," it added.
It further added that in Tharparkar, Badin, Hyderabad, Matiari, Tando Muhammad Khan, Umerkot, Mirpur Khas, Jamshoro. Sanghar, temperatures may range between 42°C and 45°C.
The department also warned that strong heat may trigger dust-raising winds. dust storms at a few locations in the plains of the province.

"In Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, maximum temperatures were expected to remain 4-6°C above normal. may rise to between 41-46°C in Peshawar, Mardan, Bannu, Karak, Lakki Marwat and Dera Ismail Khan from June 8 to 11, said the department.
PMD said that temperatures in Chitral, Dir, Swat. Gilgit-Baltistan were likely to range between 37-40°C from June 8 to 10.
Across Punjab, mercury levels are forecast to climb to between 44-48°C in Lahore, Okara, Kasur, Faisalabad, Sargodha, Joharabad, Khushab, Mianwali, Noor Pur Thal, Jhang, Toba Tek Singh, Sahiwal, Dera Ghazi Khan, Multan, Khanewal, Pakpattan, Rahim Yar Khan, Rajanpur, Bahawalpur, Bahawalnagar, Bhakkar, Layyah,. Kot Addu from June 8 to 11.
