KARACHI: A huge fire that erupted in a Landhi Export Processing Zone (EPZ) factory on Sunday afternoon was controlled after the hectic efforts of six hours. officials said.
They added that no casualties were reported in the blaze.
Rescue-1122 spokesperson Hassaan Ul Haseeb Khan said the fire broke out on the ground floor at around 2pm. quickly spread to the third floor.
Around 12 fire tenders. two snorkels took part in the firefighting operation, and they managed to control the fire at around 8pm. However, “cooling work” continued till late at night.
The exact cause of the fire was being ascertained, he said, adding that the first. second floors of the building were badly damaged.
He said the factory was closed due to the weekly holiday. Some security guards posted there were rescued immediately.
