Mitchell Marsh zooms to No. 6 on IPL 2026 Orange Cap table

The Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) vs Chennai Super Kings (CSK) game in IPL 2026 on Friday night didn't cause any major ripples on the Orange. Purple Cap tables, at least as far as the top five are concerned. But there was significant movement just below that on the run-scorers' table, and some significant non-movement on the wicket-takers leaderboard.

Heinrich Klaasen of Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) is at No. 1 with 508 runs, followed by B Sai Sudharsan of Gujarat Titans (GT) with 501, Virat Kohli of Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) with 484, SRH's Abhishek Sharma with 481,. KL Rahul of Delhi Capitals (DC) with 477. That was the top five before LSG hosted, and beat, CSK, and that's how it stayed.

But there's a brand-new No. 6, and it is Mitchell Marsh. Marsh. after a patchy time of it to start with, has now scored 55, 44, 111 and, on Friday, 90 in four of his last six innings to boost his tally to 467 runs. That's the same as GT captain Shubman Gill, but Marsh has scored at 162.15 to Gill's 158.30.

CSK opener Sanju Samson. meanwhile, became the eighth batter in the 450-or-more club after scoring 20, which took him to No. 8, past four batters.

Just 24 hours back. we were wondering if Anshul Kamboj and/or Prince Yadav could make big strides up the Purple Cap table. As it turned out, they got not a wicket between them. Prince first conceded 49 runs off his four wicketless overs,. Kamboj then had a horror night, being hit for eight sixes as he gave away 63 runs in 2.4 overs.

That left them in third. fifth place respectively, with RCB's Bhuvneshwar Kumar right on top with 22 wickets, followed by GT's Kagiso Rabada with 21. Kamboj has 19. And below him, there are four bowlers with 16 each, including Prince. The others are GT's Rashid Khan, at a stronger economy rate than Prince,. Kartik Tyagi of Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Eshan Malinga of SRH.
