LAHORE: Chief of the national selection committee Samiullah Khan on Thursday announced a 20-member Pakistan squad for the third round of the FIH Pro League being held next month.
The squad was announced after the trials were held at the National Hockey Stadium here on May 19-20. Interestingly, the PHF did not mention the name of captain.
The third round of the league is scheduled to be held in Belgium and England from June 13 to 27. Pakistan in the league will play eight matches — two each against Belgium. Spain in Belgium, and two apiece against England and India in England.
Pakistan have not managed to win even a single match of the Pro League in the first two rounds of the ongoing season during which the Green-shirts touredArgentinaandAustraliawhere they lost eight matches, two each against Australia, Germany, Argentina. the Netherlands.
How Pakistan fare in the third round of the Pro League is also important because they are scheduled to participate in the World Cup which will be hosted jointly by Belgium. the Netherlands during August. Pakistan. the former four-time world champions, qualified for the World Cup after eight years by reaching the final of a qualifying event in Ismailia, Egypt in March this year.

Defenders: Abu Bakar, Arbaz Ahmad, Mohammad Abdullah, Sufyan Khan.
Midfielders: Nadeem Khan, Ammad Shakeel, Moin Shakeel, Hammad Anjum, Zakriya Hayat.
Forwards: Gjazanfar Ali, Mohammad Emmad, Rana Waleed, Afraz Khan, Rana Wahid, Abdue Rahman, Ahmad Nadeem, Arshad Liaquat, Hanan Shahid.
