TOBA TEK SINGH: The incident of a four-year-old girl falling into a manhole. drowning seven days ago in the Tayyaba Town of Tandlianwala has taken a new turn after the Tandlianwala City Police booked six persons for killing her on Sunday.
Complainant Laraib Qasim claimed in her FIR that her deceased daughter Hania (4) went out on the evening of May 10 to play in the street where Mudassar Malik, his son Usama Malik. Shahzad Butt caught her and threw her into a manhole. As a result, she drowned.
She claimed. it was an act of revenge as her husband Qasim Ali had repeatedly rejected their offer to sell their house to the accused persons on a throw away price.
Police were investigating.
INT’L CONFERENCE:The Government College University Faisalabad (GCUF) inaugurated the third International Conference on Material Physics. Allied Technologies (MPA-Tech 2026) along with a hands-on training workshop on Sunday.
The opening session was inaugurated by Vice Chancellor Dr Rauf-i-Azam. Pro VC Dr Nasir Amin and Faculty of Physical Sciences Dean Dr Muhammad Kaleem Khosa were also present,, while former GCU Lahore Sciences Dean Dr Riaz Ahmad was the chief guest.
Dr Rauf said that material physics. modern technologies had gained vital importance in industrial development, energy, electronics, nanotechnology, medical sciences, and several other sectors. He added that the hands-on training workshop would enhance the practical skills of participants. familiarise them with modern scientific instruments and technologies.
Department of Physics Chairman Dr Ejaz Ahmad Khan highlighted GCUF’s efforts to promote research culture.
The conference featured research presentations by 12 international researchers and scientists and 20 Pakistani scientists. International speakers from Singapore, Italy, Saudi Arabia, China, Portugal, Malaysia, the United States, Norway, Canada,. Brazil also presented their research papers, while prominent scientists from Lahore, Multan, Faisalabad, and other cities also shared their academic contributions.
MURDER:An elderly man was allegedly killed after a quarrel over lifting cattle dung kept outside a funeral prayers area in Chak 237 GB of Jaranwala tehsil on Sunday.
Police said deceased Sadiq Ali allegedly exchanged harsh words with accused Shoukat, who along with his accomplices, severely tortured him. he became unconscious. He was being shifted to the Jaranwala THQ Hospital but succumbed to his injuries.
ACCIDENT:A man died. a woman was critically injured in a head-on collision of a loader motorcycle rickshaw and a motorcycle near the Omar Hospital on Race Course Road in Faisalabad on Sunday.
Rescue 1122 said that the deceased was identified as 55-year-old Muhammad Akram who died on the spot, while his wife Zarina (50) received serious wounds. was shifted to the Allied Hospital.
Meanwhile, a motorcycle rider died after he lost control of his speeding bike. rammed into a footpath at Chak Jhumra on Sunday evening.
According to Rescue 1122, deceased Nisar Ahmad (38) of Sheikhupura was on his way near the fruit. vegetable market in Chak Jhumra when the accident took place. He was critically wounded and died on the way to the hospital.
OVERDOSE:An assistant professor of the Government Ghulam Muhammadabad General Teaching Hospital died due to medicine overdose.
Police officials said that Gulberg Police received information about a woman’s death in the B Block of Gulberg locality. When police officials reached the house, they were informed that Dr Farzana Naz was a patient of depression. she used to take pills for her disease.
On Saturday, she took four pills simultaneously in the presence of her son. When her condition deteriorated. she was taken to the Allied Hospital’s emergency ward by a private car from where she was taken to the Ghulam Muhammadabad General Teaching Hospital. However, she died on the same night at 11:15pm.
Scores of people including doctors attended her funeral prayers held at the Akbarabad graveyard on Sunday.
