KARACHI: A day before presenting the Sindh budget for financial year 2026-27, Chief Minister of Sindh Syed Murad Ali Shah on Tuesday reviewed the performance of major revenue-generating departments. directed them to strengthen collection mechanisms and improve fiscal efficiency to support the province’s development agenda.
CM Shah. who also holds the portfolio of finance department, is set to present the province’s budget during the Sindh Assembly session on Wednesday (today).
Before that, he held a meeting with the Sindh Revenue Board (SRB), Excise. Taxation Department and the Board of Revenue (BoR) here at the CM House to take stock of the province’s resource mobilisation and revenue enhancement.
According to a press statement, he stressed the importance of broadening the tax base, improving compliance, plugging revenue leakages. leveraging technology to enhance transparency and efficiency in tax collection.
He said strengthening provincial revenues was essential for financing public welfare initiatives, infrastructure development. the delivery of quality services to the people of Sindh.
The chief minister directed the departments concerned to adopt innovative measures to generate revenue while ensuring that taxpayers were facilitated through transparent. business-friendly procedures.
The meeting also reviewed ongoing reforms aimed at modernising revenue administration and improving coordination among relevant departments.
Officials briefed the CM on various initiatives being undertaken to enhance resource mobilisation and improve collection performance.
The chief minister emphasised that sustainable revenue growth. prudent financial management were critical for maintaining fiscal stability and supporting the government’s development priorities.
