Robbie Williams named Port Vale shirt sponsor

Robbie Williams has been announced as a charity ambassador and shirt sponsor for Port Vale Football Club.

The two-year deal will see Williams using his profile to promote the club's charitable work. his RW mark will feature on the front of players' home and away shirts.

"It feels pretty incredible, to be honest," Williams said. "Robbie Williams, on the front of a Port Vale shirt - it's a match made in heaven for me."

The pop star was raised a short distance away from the club's home at Vale Park,. he has supported them since childhood.

"I started going to the Vale when it was 50p for a junior supporter to get in. It takes a village to raise a child, and the Railway Paddock at Vale Park raised me," Williams said.

In 2022, heperformed a unique homecoming gig at the groundin Burslem, Stoke-on-Trent.

Williams was made club president in January 2024, referring to himself as "El Presidente".

The Port Vale Foundation, for which he has now become an ambassador, delivers projects supporting health, education, inclusion. opportunity for people of all ages across the city of Stoke-on-Trent.

Williams said his return to being involved with the club was a result of the work done by chair. co-owner Carol Shanahan and her team, with Williams praising the backroom operation they had established.

"Being embraced again by the Port Vale family has been very important to me and it feels wonderful," he said.

Port Vale chief executive officer Matt Hancock said the partnership meant "a huge amount" to the club.

"He is not only a global superstar, but also a genuine supporter of the club with a deep. personal connection to our town," Hancock said.

"It's that authenticity which makes this so powerful. From the very first conversations, it was clear this was about Robbie's life-long love for Port Vale. making a tangible difference to people's lives.

"The support. exposure the partnership will give to the club and foundation will help us reach more people, create more opportunities and continue using the club as a force for good."
