Bangladesh won the toss and decided to bat against Australia
Bangladesh stand-in captain Najmul Hossain Shanto decided to bat first after winning the toss against Australia in the third ODI in Dhaka. Shanto was leading in place of Mehidy Hasan Miraz who suffered a concussion in the second game. He had already changed Bangladesh's luck at the toss, as they broke a six-match losing streak on Sunday.
The home side made two changes, bringing in Mahedi Hasan as a like-for-like replacement for Mehidy. Mahedi, also a right-arm offspinner. middle-order batter, is playing his first ODI since the 2023 World Cup, incidentally the match against Australia in Pune.
The other change is Nahid Rana being rested, with left-arm quick Shoriful Islam taking his place.
Australia have dropped Matthew Short after three consecutive ducks. and rested Nathan Ellis, replacing them with Oliver Peake at No. 7 and left-arm pace bowler Ben Dwarshuis.
